acrylic dip

Question
QUESTION:I had a manicurist license that my husband let lapse when I became disabled. Have to take state board exam to get them back.

I have discovered acrylic dip online. Can you possibly use nail glue, then dip in acrylic powder, tap off excess, and spray with monomer to cure, then repeat to build up layers?

Can I use the powder that I already have with a resin and activator?

Thanks so much for your time. I really need a filing on myself as I am very rusty? LOL a lil humor

ANSWER:Hi Denise

Sounds like you have been through a lot! I am glad you are going to be able to go back to work soon :)

I would never recommend blending different types of products as you never know what ingredients may react with one another. That could put you or your client at risk for a chemical burn. The best system that I know of is by Backscratchers.

Best of luck to you Denise, please let me know if you have any more questions.

QUESTION:Hello Brooke,

Thanks so much for the nice thoughts, but I will never be able to go back to work. I want to try and do my own nails. Without my license, I can't buy professional products. Anyway... yuck :(

Okay so, I wouldn't mix products, but I still have the powder and monomer that go together for sculptures, just add nail glue. Could I try to do a dip with my nail glue, powder and monomer (make it a spray as activator) and they are same product used for sculptures. Just apply it different way. So it would be this way.

Apply nail glue

Dip in powder and tap of excess.

Apply nail glue

Dip in powder and tap of excess

Build up layers like that.

Spray Monomer as activator - Would the monomer harden the powder layers?

The questions, I had ask originally were 2 different questions, but I didn't show that. Sorry! My mind is all over the place since I am not able to do anything anymore. I know this is a wild idea.

Thanks so much and Bless you.
Denise

Answer
Hi Denise
I looked over the steps and I think that spraying monomer onto glue could be dangerous. The reason is that glue activator is a completely different product than acrylic monomer. Have you tried buying a kit from Sally's? Also, most websites are not going to investigate whether or not your license is current or not, so you may be able to get ahold of professional products anyway.
If you still want to use the glue and powder, it may work. But get yourself some resin activator.

I hope this works out for you:)

Blessings to you and your family too :)
